Hace 3 mesesNot Suitable for an Art Retreat – Important Considerations Before Booking||I recently attended a painting holiday at Casa de los Cuadros and, unfortunately, would not recommend it as a venue for an art retreat. I would like to add that the painting tutor was absolutely lovely, which made the situation all the more disappointing, as the venue itself did not provide the kind of environment I had expected for an art holiday.||There is no dedicated studio space. Painting took place in the dining, hallway, and kitchen areas, which I found cramped and poorly lit, and materials needed to be cleared away at mealtimes. This fragmented the group and, in my opinion, made sustained work and effective tuition difficult. Guests expecting comfortable, well-lit spaces for creative work with others may find this disappointing.||The outdoor area is small and accessed via steep, narrow, uneven stone steps, which may present challenges for older guests or anyone with mobility concerns.||Parking is located on rough ground at the top of the village, and the walk down to Casa de los Cuadros is steep and uneven. Visitors with mobility concerns may find access difficult, particularly as the streets are extremely narrow and winding, and during my stay taxis appeared reluctant to drive directly to the entrance of the accommodation.||Meal arrangements were also challenging. Once food was served, there was generally no staff present to check whether guests required anything further.||Due to an accommodation booking error by Casa de los Cuadros, I was relocated to a hotel approximately 15 minutes’ drive away. Although initially very inconvenient, as it required travelling by taxi to Casa de los Cuadros for tuition, this unexpectedly provided quiet, well-lit spaces for painting and allowed me to enjoy the remainder of the holiday more comfortably. After the first two days, I chose not to return to Casa de los Cuadros for the final days of the painting tuition.||Based on my personal experience, Casa de los Cuadros did not provide the facilities, organisation, or environment I would expect for an art retreat. While others may have different experiences, I share these observations to help future guests make an informed decision and encourage prospective visitors to clarify working spaces, accessibility, excursion timings, and dining arrangements before booking.

Hace 3 mesesI helped out at the art retreats this May with a friend of mine, and we had such an amazing time here! The village is very beautiful, and the nature is absolutely stunning. The fact that this place is also an art retreat is basically the cherry on top of everything.
The food was amazing (I will definitely miss that for sure!), and Steve and Dawn were wonderful hosts as well. Overall, we had a fabulous time here and would absolutely do it again!

Hace 3 mesesA friend and I volunteered at Casa de los Cuadros in May and had an amazing experience! We helped out at two art retreats with two amazing artist tutors and even got to take part in some of the art process, which was definitely a highlight. Despite being there as members of staff, I really got to wind down and enjoy some peaceful drawing and painting in the garden and in the indoor spaces.
It was such a nice atmosphere and place to work, with everybody just so content and happy to be there.
We mostly helped prep the food for the guests, which was great because we got to eat whatever they were having.
I seriously don’t remember the last time I ate that well!! I definitely stocked up on all the vitamins to survive a couple more months of traveling.
Thank you, Dawn and Steve. I know how much work goes into the retreats, so I really appreciate you guys taking us places and always making sure we had the best experience possible!!
